"Bigger" Music Sunday is thrilled to present "Harmony Unveiled: The Secret Music of the Renaissance," a mesmerizing service full of vocal and instrumental masterpieces sung by Areté Singers, an East Bay ensemble renowned for their innovative vocal performances. They will team up with RammDance, which features Léna Alvino, Noelle Tham, and Maddie Sager with choreography by Courtney Ramm, as well as Matthew Xie on lute and Jamie Mulfinger on flute and recorder.

This exquisite program offers an immersive journey into one of history’s most vibrant and transformative musical periods. The congregation will experience the rich tapestry of Renaissance music, marked by its intricate polyphony, lush harmonies, and emotive depth. The long version from Priscilla (mom of 5-year old RammDance student):

My daughter has been taking ballet classes with Teacher Courtney for 1.5 years now. She has taken small group classes, large group classes, and currently takes private lessons.

Through all the classes, Courtney is consistently so positive and such a pleasure to have as a teacher. She is inspiring as a dancer since she herself is such an amazingly beautiful dancer, which I find important as a role model for my daughter.

But the thing that stands out above all else is her patience. In all of the classes we’ve participated in, whether private or group classes, Teacher Courtney is so incredibly patient! She allows the children to bring their own personalities to the class and is understanding of each child’s individual needs.

Teacher Courtney is a gem to have as a dance teacher! We feel so lucky to have her as our daughter’s teacher and as I am writing this, my daughter has asked me to include that, “I love taking Teacher Courtney’s class!”

Mother-daughter Tunic transformation

From flowy silk to crinkled (pleated) for our upcoming performance coming up May 27/28th!

I grew up watching my mom (a Duncan dancer) do this crinkle-tunic dance. Whoever was at home was enlisted to help as it takes two people, so my dad was often involved and it was so funny to see him twirling under silk! 😂 But that’s what is needed to get the pleats nice and tight.

Hope this gives you both a giggle and an insight into the amazing world of silk 🌷
